Adding to my previous posts…
Your Medical Records Did you Know, and Your Medical Records Did you know Update

Information is starting to reach people at long last – so here’s another short update on your medical records and what you can do if you do not want personal confidential data extracted from your GP Practice and possibly sold on to others at a later date.

Your Medical Records – Patients have the right to object.

You have the right to object to Care.data extracting personal confidential data from your GP practice. The default will be that information will be extracted unless the patient objects.

What data will be extracted?

Information will include personal identifiable data such as referrals, prescription information, date of birth, NHS number and gender.

What can you do?

You can object to this data being extracted by writing to your GP practice and asking them to add a note to your medical records that reads “dissent from disclosure of personal identifiable confidential data” Read code 9Nu0 or XaZ89 (depending on the clinical system used by your GP practice).

To round off …

These and connected blogs are intended to increase the awareness of others who may not know what is happening.  They are my personal thoughts and understandings, and in a bid to make people aware so that they can act should they wish to do so before data is extracted.

Thankfully there is a lot more information slowly becoming available.

I want my information, that is private and between me and people who provide my health care, to remain that way.  My choice, and my personal opinion.  My GP practice have put the information on my medical records – if you feel strongly about what happens to your personal information then you need to request the same.
